Volunteers  - The Many Ways You Can Play a Part

We are always in need of friendly, good hearted and generous people to help us achieve our goals. If you are an animal lover, a cat whisperer or someone who likes to be involved in projects where your time really counts and makes a difference, we would love to hear from you. Here are some of the ways you could help:

1) We have an increasing need for people to go door-to-door to spread the word about VSNIP (Vermont Spay Neuter Incentive Program) in low income neighborhoods in Vermont. The more families we speak with who would otherwise be unable to afford veterinary services, the more we can help in reducing overpopulation.

2) We are always looking for people who can provide foster homes to help rescued animals become trusting, friendly, socialized and affectionate. Many need time to feel comfortable and safe with people in a home environment before they can become adoptable to a permanent home. Kittens and teenagers of feral colonies need to be taken into foster homes to help them eliminate their fear of human beings.

3) We need volunteers to help with trap-neuter-return programs. In established colonies of free ranging cats there are often compassionate people who feed and want to help them. Rather than discouraging this practice in fear of creating even larger populations, catching the cats in humane traps, getting them spayed or neutered and then returning them to their colonies is the kindest and most effective way to help them.

4) We need people to interview prospective adopters, and to make follow up calls to the new owners of cats who have already been adopted. We like to stay in communication to be sure that both the adopters and cats are doing well and have not encountered problems.

5) We would greatly appreciate volunteers to help with the cats and the adoption process on Saturdays between 10 AM and 3PM,
at our Adoption Center at the Agway store in Williamstown, MA.

6) We would love to hear from anyone who has experience in fundraising, and could help develop creative ideas and organize events.
